Zarif wishes happy Eid al-Adha for all Muslims

Tehran, Aug 20, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a message wished happy Eid-al-Adha for all Muslims around the world.

“In trying times—and as some may try to divide us—the Muslim world comes together to celebrate Eid-al-Adha. Wishing fellow Muslims everywhere a very Happy Eid,” Zarif tweeted on Monday.

During in the ceremony, the pilgrims will offer the Arafah Prayer which was recited originally during the Hajj at Mount Arafah on 9 Dhu al-Hijjah by Hussein ibn Ali, the Grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the third Imam of Shiite Muslims.

On day of Arafah, Shia Muslims go to holy places such as mosques and graves of Shi'a Imams to recite Arafah prayer.

About three million Muslims departed for Arafat Desert late on Sunday.

Tuesday morning coincides with Eid al-Adha in Saudi Arabia, pilgrims will be headed for Mina in eastern Mecca, and will stay there till Thursday to performe the 'Stoning of the Devil' ritual at Jamarat.

The annual Hajj is a major religious duty for Muslims and must be performed at least once during a Muslim's lifetime.
