Foreign Ministry slams terrorist attack in Saudi Arabia

Tehran, June 24, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi condemned the Friday terrorist attack in the Great Mosque of the holy city of Mecca which resulted in the injuring of 11 people.

The foiled plot by terrorists to launch an attack on the Great Mosque of Mecca once again indicated the fact that the unbridled terrorism, targeting the world, region and specially Muslims and the Islamic nations, knows no religion, geography, race and nationality, Qasemi said.

To achieve its sinister goals, terrorism even never hesitate to attack holy places of the Muslims, he added.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman also warned all governments and the regional countries against the phenomenon of terrorism, describing it as the symbol of hatred, violence and crime.

Qasemi called on all nations to exercise vigilance and fight terrorism.

He went on to say that Iran denounces terrorism in any form, any place and with any tendency.

Qasemi also expressed Iran’s readiness to provide support for other countries in their fight against merchants of death, criminals and the inciters of hatred.

According to Saudi media, the terrorist operation in the holy city of Mecca has been foiled by Saudi security forces.

The terrorist strike on Mecca has reportedly injured 11 people, six of whom were passengers and five other were security forces.

The Saudis have arrested five people, including a woman, on suspicion of collaborating in the attack.
