Al-Abadi calls for global unity against Takfiri terrorists

Baghdad, Oct 22, IRNA – Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said the Islamic world should become united against Takfiri terrorists offensives.

Al-Abadi made the remarks in the ninth meeting of Global Assembly of Islamic Awakening in Baghdad.

Secretary-General of the Global Assembly of Islamic Awakening Ali-Akbar Velayati is also taking part in the meeting, attended by several Shia and Sunni figures, clergymen and scholars from 22 countries.

He added the main reason behind escalation of Takfiri terrorists activities in European countries is tarnishing the real peaceful and human image of Islam and annoying the Muslims residing in Europe.

He also reiterated that terrorism is on the verge of destruction in Iraq and would have no place in this country after the full liberation of Mosul.

Meanwhile, al-Abadi in a meeting with Velayati on Oct 20, announced that the war against Daesh will continue until setting free all lands in Iraq from terrorists.

Velayati discussed the latest and most important regional issues, war against terrorism and bilateral ties with al-Abadi.

Al-Abadi expressed hope that the war against Daesh in Iraq would end soon saying, “It is necessary that the regional countries cooperate with Iraq on security and intelligence issues in the final war.”

Velayati, for his part, voiced Iran’s support for Iraq’s unity and sovereignty as well as that country’s government.

Velayati embarked on a visit to Baghdad on Thursday and before his meeting with Prime Minister al-Abadi, he met Head of Iran’s National Coalition (Iraq’s biggest political party).
