Ambassador: Iran defends global peace, stability, supports oppressed nations

Beirut, Oct 21, IRNA – Iran's Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Fathali says Iran has always been true supportor of the oppressed nations against the Zionists occupiers and Takfiri terrorists and makes every effort to give a boost to peace and stability across the world.

Fathali made the remarks during a ceremony in the Lebanese capital on October 20 (Thursday) to commemorate the 36th anniversary of the beginning of the Iraqi-imposed war on Iran during the rule of the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein in (1980).

The ceremony was attended by a large number of Lebanese political, religious and military figures, including Samir Moqbel, the country's defense minister, as well as a number of Beirut-based foreign ambassadors and military attachés.

'Under the leadership of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and with the efforts made by the government of President Hassan Rouhani, the Islamic Republic of Iran is still seeking justice, dialogue and unity and sides with oppressed nations,' Fathali said.

He also reiterated Iran's support for the Lebanese nation, government, Army and the Resistance Movement of Lebanon, noting that national solidarity of the Lebanese is the best weapon to counter the threat of the Zionist enemy and other threats.

He noted that Tehran called for putting an end to supporting the terrorist groups and continuous bloodshed in the region as well as peaceful solution to the regional political crises.

He added that Iran is also prepared to support peace, stability and friendship in the Western Asia region, Yemen and Syria in particular, in their fight against the Zionist enemy and Takfiri terrorists.
