German lifeboats being used in flood-hit Khouzestan

Ahvaz, April 9, IRNA - 20 lifeboats, supplied by Germany for rescue works in Iran floods, have been delivered to the Iranian Red Crescent deployed in the southwestern Khuzestan Province, affected by the inundation.

'These are GEMINI boats that are specially used in relief and rescue operations in floods,' Khuzestan Red Crescent Society Director Ali Khodadadi said on Tuesday.

He said the boats will be used in inundated areas of Dasht-e-Azadegan, Shush, Shushtar, Ahvaz and other regions.

The boats are part of a German humanitarian aid shipment that were officially delivered to the Iranian Red Crescent Society on Monday.

Germany and a number of other countries have sent in aid supplies for the survivors of deadly floods that have hit vast swathes of Iran.

30,400 people have been resettled in 47 camps set up in the province.
