Iranian athlete grabs gold in Arnis

Mahabad, April 8, IRNA – An Iranian athlete won the gold medal of Arnis world championship in the Philippines.

Defeating arnisadors from the US, South Korea and China in +86 km, won the first gold medal for 10-member Iranian team and was ranked first, the Sa'ed Assadi Director of the Administration of Sports and Youth, Reza Talaie, told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Arnis, also known as Eskirma or Kali, is the traditional combat sport of the Philipines.

The 1st Philippine Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (PEKAF) World Invitational has been running in the Cebu from April 6 to 8. Some 220 stickfighters from around the world fought at the tournament.
