Iranian Army’s amphibious APCs enter flood-stricken city of Aqqala

Tehran, March 25, IRNA – Amphibious armored personnel carriers (APC) of the Iranian Army have entered the flood-hit city of Aqqala in northern Iran to help the flood-affected people, according to the commander of the Army’s Ground Force.

Brigadier-General Kioumars Heydari said that the APCs are due to provide support to those trapped in floods where the height of water is too much.

Heavy rainfalls over the past few days triggered flash floods and landslides in northern provinces of Golestan and Mazandaran.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in an order on Saturday to Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Major-General Mohammad-Hossein Baqeri called for more facilities for flood-stricken areas.

Based on the information, flood-stricken people in two northern provinces are in urgent need for aids and facilities provided by armed forces, the order read.
