FM spox rejects news on Iran diplomat summon in Germany

Tehran, Jan 21, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi rejected any news claiming that Iran’s charge d'affaires to Berlin has been summoned to Germany's Foreign Ministry.

Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Monday, Qasemi said that Iran’s temporary charge d'affaires has visited the German Foreign Ministry for another reason upon the request of Iran’s embassy.

He said claims that he has been summoned to the German Foreign Ministry are basically unfounded.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman on Saturday slammed certain accusations against Iran on security issues and said such claims aimed at marring the long-standing Iran-EU ties.

Earlier commenting on the claims by some German media about arrest of an Afghan-German national on espionage charges for the Iranian government, he rejected any link between the alleged individual and Islamic Republic of Iran, saying that such accusations are made by those who wish to harm Iran-EU relations at the sensitive juncture.

A German publication has recently claimed that the CIA has exposed an Iranian spy in German army.
