Iran summons Dutch ambassador for attack on Iranian embassy in Hague

Tehran, Jan 15, IRNA – Dutch ambassador to Tehran Jacques Werner has been summoned for explanations about a recent attack on Iranian embassy in the Hague.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry summoned the Dutch ambassador on Monday evening following a recent attack on the Iranian embassy in the Hague by the agents of an anti-revolutionary and separatist group.

The director of Foreign Ministry’s first bureau for West Europe protested at the attack.

Referring to similar attacks in the past and failure of the Dutch police and judicial officials to take precautionary measures, the Foreign Ministry official called for serious acts of Netherland government to ensure the security of the Iranian mission and diplomats in the Hague within the framework of its commitments under the 1961 Vienna Convention.

The Dutch ambassador, for his part, expressed regret about the attack and briefed the Iranian official on the measures taken by the Hague police.

Werner said he will reflect the Iran’s protest to his government.
