Iran urges boost of cultural ties with Japan

Tehran, Dec 13, IRNA – Iran's Ambassador to Japan Morteza Rahmani Movahed says cultural relations serve as a basis for Iran-Japan relations.

Movahed made the remarks on Thursday in a meeting with Assistant Minister and Director General for Cultural Affairs of Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Manabu Miyagawa.

He said one of his plans is expansion of Iran-Japan cultural cooperation, in the tourism domain in particular.

Referring to the 90th anniversary of official diplomatic relations between Iran and Japan, Movahed said that absolutely in 2019 cultural programs between Iran and Japan will be given more momentum.

He urged Japan Foreign Ministry's support for cultural programs of Iranian Embassy in Japan on the 90th anniversary of official relations between the two sides.

Miyagawa said, for his turn, that his country is ready to cooperate with the Iranian Embassy in Tokyo to commemorate cultural occasions.

He said Japan Embassy in Tehran has also arranged extensive cultural programs on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations.

Iran's Cultural Attaché in Japan Hossein Divsalar, who was also present in the meeting, referred to age-old Iran-Japan cultural ties and outlined the cultural measures taken over the years and future of cultural consultations by the two sides in various areas.
