Cleric: Iranian academia are on front line of campaign against US injustice

Tehran, Dec 7, IRNA – Substitute Friday Prayers leader of Tehran Ayatollah Mohammad-Ali Movahedi Kermani said Iranian academia is flag bearers of campaign against the US injustice and tyranny.

'Today, the US has the record of failure in the face of the brave and insightful Iranian people and our students and academia are flag bearers of campaign against the US tyranny and injustice,' said Ayatollah Kermani in his second Friday prayers sermon.

He said campaign against US, injustice, arrogance, and justice seeking are integral features of Iranian student movement.

'The US is a loser in all its plots against Iranian people,' said the cleric.

Ayatollah Kermani made the remarks in connection with the National Student Day (Azar 16 or December 7), designated after martyrdom in 1953 of three students – Mostafa Bozorgnia, Ahmad Ghandchi, Mehdi Shariatrazavi – in Tehran University a day after widespread demonstrations against (the then US Vice President) Richard Nixon’s visit to Iran and the re-establishment of relations with Britain following a US, British engineered coup against the democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadaq

Elsewhere in his address, Ayatollah Kermani touched on the bill, proposed by government to Parliament on the budget for the next Iranian calendar year of 1398 (to begin on March 21, 2019), and asked government and all the executive officials in charge to take appropriate measures and forge coordinated action to foil enemy conspiracy of crippling Iranian economy.

He said job creation, business vibrancy and growing exports should be the pivot lines of the budget for the next year. He added that expenditures should be cut.
