2 martyred, 40 injured in Chabahar blast

Zahedan, Dec 6, IRNA -- A horrible terrorist explosion in Chabahar, Sistan-Balouchestan Province, southeast of Iran, has led to martyrdom of two citizens and injury of 40 others.

An informed source told IRNA that those martyred were Lieutenant Daryoush Ranjbar and conscript Nasser Darzadeh.

The source, who wanted not to be named, said driver of a Toyota Van, laden with explosives, tried to run into the police headquarters in Chabahar but police was brave and vigilant enough to take timely action and prevent him to do so. The suicide bomber then blew himself up at around 09:55 hours local time on Thursday and as a result two police forces were martyred and the suicide attacker was killed, according to the official.

He said that unfortunately, a number of ordinary citizens were also injured in the event.

Meanwhile, Head of the Medical Emergency Center of Iranshahr Faculty of Medical Sciences Mahmoud-Reza Naseh told IRNA that based on the latest statistics available, the terrorist incident on Thursday morning left two martyred and 40 citizens injured.

Naseh said 28 of the injured are men, eight women and four children.

He said eight of the injured are now in the operation room and two of them are in grave condition.

Some social networks claim that the terrorist grouplet, called 'Ansar al-Forghan', has undertaken the responsibility for the terrorist attack.
