Iran safe place for scientific interactions: German scholar

Shiraz, Dec 2, IRNA - Chancellor of German Dresden University of Technology Professor Hans Müller-Steinhagen on Sunday described Iran as safe place for scientific interaction, saying that it enjoys more security than certain western states.

In a meeting on the sidelines of a ceremony to receive honorary doctorate by University of Shiraz, he said that scientific interactions are not created overnight, as it requires familiarity and mutual confidence.

He added that the honorary doctorate is a big step for promoting cooperation between the two countries.

He further noted that University of Shiraz and Dresden University of Technology will cooperate in settling Fars province’s water crisis.

He said he has been impressed by Shiraz’ beauties and culture and hailed exchanging scientific delegations between the two universities.

Chancellor of Shiraz University Hamid Nadgaran also said that the university has decided to forge communications with certain global scientific circles to help promote social interaction.

International interactions with the top European universities will clear the way for University of Shiraz in the international scene, he said.

This is the second honorary doctorate that the university gives to the noted professors in the world, with the first awarded to winner of Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1988, he said.
