Muslim nations should unite to defend Palestine: Russian pundit

Tehran, Dec 1, IRNA – Muslim countries should unite to counter different conspiracies, including that against Palestine, the first deputy of the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Saturday.

'The basic decisions of the United Nations about Palestine must be implemented, and any move that hurts the stability and peace in the region is condemned,' said Damir Muhetdinov on the sidelines of a book fair in Moscow.

The principal of the Moscow Islamic University added, 'Muslims should defend their own and the Palestinians' rights and never forget that the holy Quds (Jerusalem) belongs to all the Muslims.'

Saying that the city of Quds is regarded as a sacred place by all the three Abrahamic religions, he added that politicizing the issue of holy Quds has given the region's fragile peace a hard blow.

Muhetdinov is the head of and two weekly publications on Islam.
