Pakistan unveils new anti-submarine system

Islamabad, Nov 29, IRNA – Pakistan has unveiled newly-developed anti-submarine weapon ‘Depth Charge Mark-II MOD3’ for Pakistan Navy.

President Arif Alvi unveiled the system at ongoing Pakistan’s 10th International Defense Exhibition and seminar, IDEAS 2018 in Karachi.

The air-launched anti-submarine weapon detonates at an optimum depth of 70 feet making it very effective against intruder submarines in the act of diving or submerged at shallow depth. Its length is 97cm and firing depth is 70 feet.

President of Pakistan expressed his satisfaction over the quality standard of Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) products and lauded the achievements of POF.

Meanwhile, General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Pakistan Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee also unveiled another newly-developed product of POF namely ‘Anti-Tank Mine System” at POF stall.

It can be launched from a moving vehicle at a range of 50-250 meter on either side. The maximum self-destruction time is more than 300 hours.

The Deputy Coordinator of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Army, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, leading a high level Iranian delegation, also attended the event.

A total of 522 exhibitors from 50 countries are taking part in the exhibition and will be able to showcase their high-quality arms from November 27 to November 30.

Besides trade visitors, more than 262 high-level delegations from 51 countries are also visiting the exhibition.
