Culture minister: Hermitage Museum can display works in Iran

Saint Petersburg, Nov 18, IRNA - Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Abbas Salehi said that Russia could display its artifacts in Iran in order to expand cultural relations between the two countries.

Salehi made the remarks in a meeting with the curator of the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg on Sunday.

Before leaving Russia, Salehi met with Michael Piotrowski while visiting the museum and announced that some of the Hermitage Museum's works could be exhibited in Iran and exposed some of the works of the Iranian museums in the Hermitage.

'The Hermitage has created a good opportunity and space for experts of Iranian history and cultures as its orientalogist curator has made Hermitage an important cultural base between Iran and Russia,” he noted, adding that the cultural relations of Iran and Russia have old roots and in Hermitage Museum, the reality is well seen.

Salehi went on to say, 'Iranian counterparts also want cooperative development', stressing that it is possible to increase the scope of Iranian-Russian cultural cooperation using Hermitage Museum capacities.
