Sanctions have no impact on Iran’s military power: Commander

New Delhi, Nov 13, IRNA – Navy Commander Brigadier General Hossein Khanzadi stressed the ineffectiveness of enemies’ threats, saying that though Iran has been subject to various sanctions since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, sanctions have not affected its military might.

Talking to IRNA in New Delhi on Monday, he added that Iran, armed forces in particular, have endured most sanctions, but they have had no impact on the forces; rather they helped promote science and technology in all of the armed forces, Navy in particular.

Today, the Navy has managed to build most advanced military and defense equipment, he said, hailing the achievements made in light of the Islamic Revolution.

Despite sanctions, the Navy has developed destroyers capable of carrying helicopters and launching missiles, he said.

Khanzadi pointed out that submarine ‘Iran-Fatih’ is among the first generation of new submarines which will soon be used.

Such achievements will help promote Iran’s defense capabilities and make the country self-sufficient in the face of threats, he said.

Khanzadi arrived in New Delhi on Sunday at the head of a military delegation to attend the conference marking the Tenth Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS).

IONS are a series of biennial meetings among the littoral states of the Indian Ocean region. It provides a forum to increase maritime security cooperation, and promote friendly relationships among the member nations.
