“Genetic maps are mainly used in personalized medicine where the medical treatments are determined according to the pationts’ genetic groups,” said SBMU faculty member, Shahram Alamdari.
He added that if two patients, for example, have the same type of diabetes, genetic maps and personalized medicine suggest that their treatment should be different due to the genetic characteristics of each person.
Alamdari pointed to early diagnosis, building new medicines, and advising personalized prescriptions as the main applications of genetic maps.
He added that the 12th International Congress on Endocrine Disorders and Metabolism will be held on November 14-16 at Shahid Beheshti University in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
