Qatar offers formation of new coalition in region

Baghdad, Nov 8, IRNA – During his trip to Baghdad, Qatar Deputy Prime Minister has proposed formation of a new collation of the regional countries, Iraqi media reported.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani offered formation of a five-party coalition, comprising Iraq, Iran, Qatar, Turkey and Syria, Iraqi media said.

Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister on Wednesday arrived in Iraq for an official two-day visit and met with top Iraqi officials.

After the rift in the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council in 2017 and Qatar's blockade by certain PGCC members, Doha reviewed its foreign policy and established closer ties with Iran and Turkey.
