US sanctions aim to hurt Iranians’ will

Moscow, Nov 8, IRNA – The US unilateral sanctions are aimed to hurt Iranian’s will, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation said.

Sergei Ryabkov made the remarks in an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) and the Islamic Republic of Iran's Broadcasting (IRIB) on Wednesday.

The US will not achieve its goals by anti-Iran sanctions, he said.

Iran has long-standing experience of resistance against Iran sanctions, he added.

Referring to the US withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Ryabkov said Russia together with other signatories will continue efforts for preserving the deal.

After Washington's May 8 exit from the historic Iran Deal, the US gave 90- and 180-day wind-down periods to other countries before it starts re-imposing oil sanctions on Tehran on November 4.

Part of the US' illegitimate sanctions were imposed on Iran on August 9.

On Monday, Trump reinstated the US nuclear sanctions on Iran and imposed, as he claimed, “the highest level” of economic bans on the Islamic Republic of Iran.

This is while other signatories of Iran Deal condemned the US' measure to withdraw from the JCPOA.
