Head of Russian Political Research Institute: US sanctions targeted Iranian nation

Moscow, Nov 6, IRNA - Chairman of the Institute for Political and Social Research of the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea region of Russia, pointing to the implementation of new sanctions against Iran, said the new US sanctions against Iran has targeted the nation.

Victor Raievsky, who is also a senior expert at the Institute for Global Economics and the Political Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said in an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Tuesday, 'Contrary to the claims of US officials that sanctions are against the Iranian government, it targets the lives of ordinary people the country.'

He added, “The United States hopes to put these sanctions on the people of Iran and the conditions for a general uprising in this country to overthrow the regime of Iran.”

Russian officials said the new sanctions are harder than the previous sanctions, and all those dependant on Iran's economic and trade relations with other countries are affected.

“The United States has not just sanctioned the pharmaceutical sector, since Iran produces 97% of its drugs,” Raievsky said
