Khashoggi killed for being strong opponent to Saudi monarchs: Pak politician

Islamabad, Nov 6, IRNA -- A senior Pakistani politician and former member of Pakistan’s Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs has said that Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was assassinated for being insider to the royal family and strong opponent at the same time of Saudi monarchs.

In an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi said the whole world is looking for justice as they feel that the orders of the murder did come from the top.

A critic of Mohammed bin Salman's reform program in Saudi Arabia, Khashoggi was killed after entering the consulate on October 2.

The kingdom has faced international condemnation for the journalist's murder and its shifting official accounts of his disappearance last month.

Saudi authorities initially stated the journalist left the consulate, before backtracking and admitting on October 20 he was killed by 'rogue' operatives.

Expressing his views, Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi said Jamal Khashoggi was an insider and was very close to royal family and he had tremendous access to the royal palace, but he became a very strong opponent and being a strong opponent after being an insider is always very dangerous because they have an information which no other noble person has.

“So Khashoggi had to be eliminated and the President of Turkey had very clearly told the world that when he wanted to marry some lady and for that he needed some papers he was invited to the embassy and when he reached there this gruesome murder took place,” former Senator said.

The politician added that even intelligence agencies in Turkey have very vivid picture of this, it was very crude murder and the body of was cut into pieces.

He went on to say that Saudi Arabia is a monarchy where a king cannot do wrong and governance is considered as divine right of king and all orders come from the top and nobody in a kingdom can pass an order without the king.

“The whole world is looking for justice and they feel that the orders did come from the top so justice must prevail,” he said.

Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi said in Saudi Arabia one can be put into the jail or beheaded for not being loyal to the king or being accused for not being loyal to the king so at least for this type of gruesome murder justice must be done.

“Nobody is against Saudi Arabia or trying to embarrass any country the world only want justice and the justice should be prevailed,” the politician said.

He said that it is a very simple matter of a very gruesome murder and the human rights cannot be denied even in a monarchy.

Mashhadi added that Jamal Khashoggi’s killing has tremendous affect on the reputation of Saudi Arabia; unfortunately the US is trying to play down on the issue because they believe in mighty dollars.

Mashhadi added Immediately Trump showed a reaction on the murder like a normal human being, but suddenly he remembered that over $400 billion were involved, however, the other countries especially the European countries and countries all over the world have shown remarkable quest for justice.

He said in the United Nations debate even very small countries of the world have shown their conscious and demand for justice over Jamal Khashoggi’s killing. “Every sane human being condemns this murder and we only want justice to prevail,” he said.
