300 kg opium seized in W Iran

Khorramabad, Nov 3, IRNA - Three opium distribution gangs were identified and 300 kilograms of narcotics were seized from them in the western Iranian province of Lorestan, chief of provincial police said on Saturday.

Mohammad Mehdi Nasab said the drug enforcement agents identified three gangs who were transferring the narcotics from the southeastern part of the country to the northwestern part.

Also 300 kilograms of opium along with two trucks and one vehicle were seized.

Four drug traffickers have been arrested and further investigations are underway.

During the first six months of the current year, over three tons of drugs were discovered in the province, a 48 percent year-on-year growth, Mehdi Nasab added.
