Iran Persian Gulf refinery lights gasoline production furnace

Bandar Abbas, Oct 20, IRNA – The first gasoline production unit’s furnace of the third phase of the Persian Gulf Star Refinery (PGSR) has started to burn, the chief executive officer of the Refinery said on Saturday.

The PGSR, as the world’s biggest gas condensate refinery, is the major national gasoline producer, Mohammad Ali Dadvar said according to Refinery’s public relations office.

When the third phase of the PGSR completely comes on stream by the yearend, the capacity of producing gasoline in the country will reach over 40 million liters per day, Dadvar said.

In related development, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani opened the second phase of the PGSR in late June. Based on the plan, once the second phase of PGSR completed, the refinery's production of gasoline would reach daily 24 million from 12 million liters with Euro-5 [emission] standards.

The Persian Gulf Star Refinery, known as Bandar Abbas Gas Condensate Refinery, with a daily processing capacity of 360,000 barrels of gas condensate, is aimed at producing gasoline, gas oil, gas condensate and jet fuel after being fully inaugurated.
