Germany to consider independent payment system with Iran

Tehran, Sept 14, IRNA – The German Economy Minister spokesman was quoted by Reuters as saying that Berlin and its European partners are seeking for setting up a payment system with Iran.

The system will allow the continuation of business transactions with Iran once the US sanctions are underway against the country, Reuters reported.

“As you know, it is a central goal of the EU and the German government to ensure that the processing of transactions is secured,” the spokeswoman was quoted as saying during a regular government news conference.

“All options are being considered,” he added.

The report comes on the heels of the US President Donald Trump's claim of reinstating the US nuclear sanctions on Iran and imposing “the highest level” economic bans on the Islamic Republic.

This is while, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano earlier in a statement announced that Iran has complied with its commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy also on Wednesday reaffirmed the EU's commitment to defend Iran nuclear deal also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
