Deal of Century launched decades ago: Palestinian politician

Beirut, Aug 6, IRNA – The American plan known as Deal of the Century aimed at eradicating the Palestine cause has long been launched, without being officially announced, a Palestinian politician said.

'Calling Quds as the capital of the Zionist regime, moving US embassy from Tel Aviv to the holy city, putting pressure on Palestinian refugees by violating their return right, and disrupting the UN refugee agency are steps taken to realize the Deal of the Century,' Ramiz Mustafa, member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) in Lebanon, told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

The latest step was ratifying the Nation-State of the Jewish People by the Parliament of 'the Zionist regime', he said.

The deal did not begin with the moment the US President Donald Trump entered the White House, rather, it began with the occupation of the Palestinian territories by the Zionist regime and snowballed with the Camp David signed by former Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, the Oslo signed by Palestine Liberation Organization and Wadi Araba signed by the former Jordanian King Hussein, according to the Palestinian politician.

'The US, currently, is exploiting the situation in the region in which countries are struggling with their own issues to distract them from Palestine cause, he said.

Mustafa said that there would be no prospect for victory of the Palestinian groups and parties, unless they get aligned with each other.

Criticizing some Arab states in the region, particularly those on the Persian Gulf, for normalizing their relations with the Zionist regime, he said the Americans managed to win the support of some Arab states in propping up the Zionist regime.

He also suggested that boycotting and sanctioning Israel is one way to confront the occupying regime. 'That's why Tel Aviv has threatened that it will block Palestinian assets if the campaigns continue,' Mustafa said.

Commenting on Russia and its affiliation to the resistance axis, he said that Moscow is a trustworthy ally, but it does not mean that Russia is a part of the resistance axis.

The resistance is seeking Palestine's liberation 'from the river to the sea', but Russia has ties with Israel are based on its own interests.
