Zahedan, July 12, IRNA – About 2,008 kilograms of narcotics was seized and five professional drug-dealers were arrested in southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan, said the deputy police chief in the province.

After days of attempt, the police of the Iranshahr and Nikshahr counties could arrest five drug-traffickers and confiscate three Toyotas, 902 kilograms of opium, 74 kilograms of hashish, 32 kilograms of heroin, and three Kalashnikov machine guns in Mehrestan and Iranshahr counties, said Colonel Ahmad Taheri.

Iran as the country neighboring Afghanistan and Pakistan is considered the transit road for drug-traffickers. Many Iranian soldiers lose their lives every year in the campaign against the ominous phenomenon.
