Top Iran, Russia officials discuss critical situation of today's world

Tehran, July 12, IRNA – Cooperation between Iran and Russia is more necessary than before due to the fact that the US' president is a rebel, said the advisor of Iran's Supreme Leader in the meeting to deliver two messges from Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

'The present situation is very sensitive; the world is under the influence of a rebel as the president of the US. Thus, the collaborations get more and more necessary. And that's why I'm carrying messages from Iran's supreme leader and president,' Ali-Akbar Velayati said.


Saying that Iran-Russia ties are strategic, the Advisor to Supreme leader in International Affairs Velayati said in the meeting, 'In the past few years, the mutual and regional ties have expanded.'

Regional cooperation between collection of the resistance front, led by Iran and Russia, for campaign against terrorism and its founders in Syria and other regional countries, is an exemplary model of Tehran-Moscow cooperation, said Velayati, adding that only strategic and long-term relations can justify such cooperation.

'What's more, mutual ties in the fields of defense, politics, economy, security, and nuclear technology are other examples.'

He hoped that the discussions with the Russian president and other authorities will result in a turning point in the two countries' strategic ties.

Velayati arrived in Russian capital on Wednesday. He will stay in Russia for three days. Meeting some Russian ministers and giving a speech in Valdai Discussion Club think tank are also on his agenda.
