Iran urges Europe to take practical action on preserving JCPOA

Tehran, July 10, IRNA - Head of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations Kamal Kharrazi said changing Europe's political determination for practical action to implement Iran deal is of importance at the moment.

Kharrazi made the remarks Tuesday in a meeting with German Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office Niels Annen.

The US is aimed to create tensions and conflict in the region, he said, adding that Europe will face its negative effects.

Europe support for the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) will help maintain security in the region, Kharrazi added.

If Europe retreats as regard JCPOA, the US will impose more pressure, he noted.

Europe's political determination in supporting Iran deal should turn into practical actions in line with implementing the deal, Kharrazi said.

If Iran’s interests are not fulfilled there will be no reason for the country to stay in the deal, he reiterated.

Kharrazi referred to the US unilateral withdrawal from the nuclear deal, and said, 'Based on the JCPOA letter, Iran has the right to stop its commitments partially or completely.'

Meanwhile, Annen praised Iran's stance after the US withdrawal from the deal.

He underlined that despite having some problems, the Europeans are determined to support the deal.

Iran's oil sale, transferring money and investment of small and medium-sized companies
are now among priorities in relation to Iran, Annen said.

He also urged all countries to support Iran deal.

During the meeting, regional issues, bilateral issues namely those related to Syria and Yemen, JCPOA and Europe's support for the nuclear deal and the US pressures on Europe were discussed.
