Iran envoy to int’l organizations submits credentials to OFID

London, July 10, IRNA – Iran new Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the international organizations including International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna Kazem Gharib Abadi submitted his credentials to the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID).

In his meeting with OFID Director General Suleiman Jasir Al-Herbish, both sides highlighted developing ties.

Iran is one of the main founders of OFID and has always supported the body’s role in removing poverty and creating sustainable development among underdeveloped countries, Gharib Abadi said.

Iran is after maintaining close cooperation with OFID, he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Gharib Abadi stressed Iranian firms’ capacities for helping implement OFID projects.

Jasir Al-Herbish, for his part, appreciated Iran’s valuable role in OFID and also its constructive initiatives in reinforcing aims of the organization.

Prior to being appointed to the post, Gharib Abadi was Iran's ambassador to the Netherlands, ambassador and permanent representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and deputy secretary-general of the High Council for Human Rights on international affairs.

Gharib Abadi has replaced Reza Najafi in his new post.
