Iran-Iraq trade balance hit $10b: Envoy

Baghdad, June 14, IRNA – The value of trade exchanges between Tehran and Baghdad reached ten billion dollars for a one-year period, Iran's ambassador to Iraq announced here on Wednesday evening.

There are many historical, cultural and political commonalities between the two countries which should be used for further bilateral ties, Iraj Masjedi said at an Iftar ceremony in this Iraqi capital city.

Referring to gas and electricity as two important issues of cooperation between the two neighboring countries, Masjedi said the two have also deep religious relations as the number of exchange of pilgrims shows.

He further invited the Iranian investors to Iraq's 37-million market, stressing the Iranian Embassy in Baghdad fully supports business activities in the Iraqi cities.

Pointing to Iran's support extended for the Iraqi nation and government to fight against terrorist groups of Daesh (ISIS) and Takfiris, the Iranian diplomat said Tehran will also stand by Baghdad during the construction period.

Describing the two nations as brothers, the Iranian ambassador said the true brother will be with his brother during bad conditions.

Commander of Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Qasem Soleimani in a letter sent late Nov 2017 to Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei announced the termination of the corrupt tree of Daesh and congratulated the Islamic world on the glorious victory.
