New Qatari ambassador to Iran named after 18 months

Doha, June 12, IRNA – Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani appointed Mohammed bin Hamad Al Hajri as that country's new ambassador to Iran after 18 months.

Mohammed bin Hamad Al Hajri – the newly-appointed Qatari ambassador to Iran – has previously served as Qatar's ambassador to Yemen, Libya, and Greece.

When the Saudi embassy in Tehran was stormed after the assassination of a senior Shia cleric by Saudi regime in 2015, Qatar and some other Arab countries recalled their ambassadors from Tehran in a sign of support for the Riyadh government.

The newly-appointed Qatari ambassador to Tehran will replace Ali bin Hamad Al Sulaiti who will be serving as Qatar's new ambassador to Peru.
