Some Iranian media have evaluated Peskov’s remarks as intervention since they cited some regional news agencies which quoted Kremlin spokesman as saying Kremlin expects Tehran to review the US demands on reaching a new agreement.
Peskov elaborated on Russian officials’ assessment of Pompeo’s condition on Iran, Russia embassy said in a statement.
Russia, Iran, UK, France and Germany have verified their commitment to Iran nuclear deal, he answered.
Moscow and European countries have repeatedly expressed hope for Tehran to stay in Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Peskov said.
In fact the US is the only country that walked away from the JCPOA which have negative consequences, he added.
Pompeo in a speech on Monday said that following withdrawal from the JCPOA, the US is seeking severe financial pressure and unprecedented sanctions against Iran to contain Iran's influence in the region and block its nuclear and missile programs.
