Expert meeting on Caspian Sea legal regime begins in Astana

Baku, May 21, IRNA – An expert meeting began in Astana on Monday to draft the legal regime of the Caspian Sea, according to Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.

The meeting is participated by representatives from the five Caspian Sea littoral states – Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan Republic, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

In addition to drafting the legal regime of the Caspian Sea, the documents in regard to the 5th Caspian Sea Littoral States Summit Meeting, due to be held in September, will also be discussed in the present Meeting in Astana.

Caspian Sea littoral states have held four summit meetings as well as 49 expert-level meetings so far on determining the Sea's legal regime.
