Lebanese' vote 'No' to Zionists, US: Speaker

Tehran, May 8, IRNA – The people of Lebanon voted 'No to Zionists and the US' through the parliamentary elections, said the speaker of Majlis (Iranian Parliament) on Tuesday.

'Despite all the character assassination and the money the US, the Zionist regime of Israel, and their regional followers spent, the people of Lebanon said their main idea through the elections, which was 'No to the US and Zionists', said Ali Larijani in an open session of Majlis.

Larijani said that the US President Donald Trump should understand that military and political pressure on the people of region will only result in the oppressed people's objection to them.

'There are presently two movements in the region: the reactionary move of the dictators that is dependent on the US; and the democracy-seeking one which is seen in the elections of Lebanon, city councils in Tunisia, and hopefully in Iraq.'

Addressing Trump, he said, 'Mr. Trump, you can see the consequence of the US and the Zionists' security roguery to help the terrorists in the elections of Lebanon; have no doubt that the Iranians will have the same reaction to US' lack of commitment to Iran Deal.'

Relying on the wise leadership of Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Iranians will take a revolutionary path that was clearly seen in the Late Imam Khomeini's life, Larijani added.

He congratulated the election to Hezbollah Secretary-General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, Lebanese President Michel Aoun, Prime Minister Saad Hariri, and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.
