Director General of Iran Northern Railroad Company Yousef Geran-Pasha said that the 1.2 billion euro electrification project will begin this (Persian) year (begining on March 21 2018, ending on March 20, 2019.)
There have been various meetings with the Russian side, he said.
Geran-Pasha also said that the electrification will be the main project of the railway this year, and the next big project will be making Sari-Qaemshahr section of the railway a double-track.
Iran has a 1,299 kilometer railway network.
