Customs officers discover 540kg opium in NW Iran

Tehran, April 22, IRNA – Customs officers of Bazargan Border region, West Azarbaijan province found 540 kg opium hidden in apple juice concentrates.

Based on the reports released by Iran Customs, concurrent with launching electronic system of customs and using sniffer dogs, traffickers also use various ways for trafficking drugs.

According to Regional Intelligence Liaison Offices (RILO), Iranian customs ranked 1st in the world for two consecutive years in 2016 and 2017.

Bazargan is a city and capital of Bazargan District, in Maku County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. It is the most important Iranian land border for importing and exporting.
