Syrian journalist: US, allies destabilizing Middle East

New Delhi, April 12, IRNA- A senior Syrian journalist said that the US and its allies in the Middle East are planning to destabilize the region through initiating yet new wars.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Dr. Waeil Awwad who is the bureau chief of the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) in New Delhi elaborated on the US plans for the Middle-East.

'Although I do not foresee an eminent direct war between the US and Iran or other regional countries, there is still no doubt that the US, Israel and the Saudi Arabia are on the same side of destabilizing the region and opening new battle zones,' Awwad said.

He noted that 'there are enough evidences to prove that motives. The sinister plot is to destroy the resistance crescent against the US-Israeli hegemony which extends from Iran-Iraq-Syria-Lebanon to Palestine'.

Awwad believes 'the appointment of the John Bolton as the new US National Security Advisor and Mike Pompeo as the new Secretary of State of the country is part of a bigger game of the Zionist regime and Saudis to open a war against Iran'.

The veteran analyst of the regional developments and the world affairs further said that the inductions are blessed by Israel lobby and Saudi Arabia.

'Many American experts and even former US president Jimmy Carter criticized the selection of Bolton and Pompeo. The main target for the new hawks is Iran .The US foreign policy under Donald Trump toward the Middle-East is worrying everybody. The arm industry is looking for new battle zones .The regional allies will be instigated to initiate a war,” he added.

Asked to comment on the future US policy towards the Iranian nuclear deal, Dr. Awwad said that the European parties are resisting the pressure from the US.

'I don't see Washington pulling out of the accord, but there is a pressure applied on the signatories to it which will hinder any progress and lifting of the economic sanctions on Iran,' he added.

The recent visit of Saudi Crown prince Mohammed Bin Salam to the US is a clear indication that the payment has been done in advance to support anti-Iran moves.

On the impact of any possible war in the Middle East on world countries, including India, he said: “India has diverted its source of energy to all over the world, in spite of the fact that West Asia/Middle East remains the main source of its requirement to the same. I believe that New Delhi is closely watching the developments in the Middle-East and will make sure its national security is safeguarded .There are more than 8 million Indians living in the Middle East with equal number visiting the region annually and more than $73 Billion revenue.”

“India has initiated a strong wave of economic cooperation with Iran to gain access to the Central Asia. Prevention of a war in the Middle-East and ensuring peace and stability in the region is a priority for India. The world cannot offer more wars in the Middle-East,” he added.
