Telegram to be replaced by national messenger in Iran

Khorramabad, March 31, IRNA – Telegram messaging service will be replaced by a national messenger within days, Head of Majlis (parliament) Foreign Policy and National Security Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said.

The decision to shut down Telegram has been made at the highest level, Boroujerdi said.

Referring to the fact that Telegram has had negative role in the crises happening in Iran last year, the Iranian MP said 'We have the potential to introduce Soroush messenger which is a national messaging service.'

Foreign media have always tried to arouse the concern that internal systems are not safe, while attempts are being made in terms of their technical engineering and safety.

Telegram is a non-profit cloud-based instant messaging service. Telegram client apps are available for Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Windows NT, macOS and Linux.
