Severe weather conditions hamper search operations for crashed plane

Tehran, Feb 19, IRNA – Islamic Republic Guards Corps (IRGC) Spokesman Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif said that IRGC’s drone is searching for the crashed ATR plane, adding that severe weather conditions have made operations to pinpoint site of the crash difficult.

He further noted that IRGC special forces alongside other institutes have started operations to find the crashed plane in Kokilouyeh-Boyerahmad province.

Search operations are currently underway but unfortunately, there is no reliable news on the accurate site of the crash, he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi earlier said that harsh conditions, hard access path, snowfall and rainfall on the first day of the incident and harsh slopes have made operations to retrieve Tehran-Yasouj plane wreckage sluggish.

An Iranian passenger plane belonging to Aseman Airlines hit Mount Dena, 120 km from Semirom, Isfahan Province, early Sunday morning. The wreckage of the plane has not been found yet, but all 66 people aboard are feared dead in the tragic incident.
