US policies main source of instability in Middle East: Iran

New York, Feb 14, IRNA – US unconditional support for the Zionist regime’s aggressive policies is the major source of instability in the Middle East, Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations said in a statement on Wednesday.

The US permanent representative to the UN used the Security Council briefing session regarding Syria on 14 February 2018 to repeat her baseless allegation about what she described as Iran’s 'destabilizing role in Syria', the statement read.

The facts however show the sincere efforts by Iran to deescalate the situation in that country as well as the US government's push to thwart any attempt to restore stability and unity to Syria, it noted.

The US government has been instrumental in the growth of Daesh and terrorism in the Middle East. Its misadventures and illegal interventions across the region especially Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Syria have led to instability of those countries and had disastrous consequences for the region. The US government cannot cover up its destructive role by blaming others, the statement said.

The US Permanent Representative has time and again voiced unconditional support for the Israeli regime and its illegal and aggressive practices and activities that have become the primary source of instability and insecurity in the region.
