President Rouhani to start 3-day visit to India Thursday

Tehran, Feb 14, IRNA – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is scheduled to leave Tehran for Hyderabad City, south of India on Thursday.

The visit is being made upon an official invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The three-day tour aims at reinforcing bilateral ties, Iranian president’s deputy chief of staff for communications and information Parviz Esmaeili said on Wednesday.

Holding meetings with Hyderabad Muslim Ulemas, visiting cultural and religious centers and Iranian citizens and students residing in India are among President Rouhani’s itinerary, he added.

The official welcoming ceremony will be held with the attendance of Indian president and prime minister on Saturday morning in New Delhi, Esmaeili noted.

After holding meetings between Iranian and Indian high-profile delegations, both sides will sign cooperation documents and MoUs, he reiterated.

He went on to say that President Rouhani will also deliver a speech in a meeting with Indian elites and scholars.

Businessmen and merchants of the two countries private sectors are also scheduled to hold a joint meeting to review cooperation opportunities and capacities, he said.

President Rouhani will leave New Delhi for Tehran on Saturday night, Esmaeili said.
