Iran has emerged as a regional power: Pak official

Peshawar, Feb 13, IRNA – Speaker of Pakistan’s Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa congratulated anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, saying that today Iran has emerged as a regional power.

Assad Qaiser made the remarks in a ceremony celebrating the 39th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution attended by instructors of Peshawar -based universities and Iranian expatriates in the country.

He said that despite various challenges, economic sanctions in particular, Iran has managed to pave the way for its growth and progress through strong diplomacy.

He further noted that western economic experts maintain that Iran has now prepared necessary grounds for a great leap and has currently emerged as a regional power.

As to bilateral relations, he hailed the two nations’ commonalities, saying that his country is keen on using Iran’s experience in various sectors including agriculture and establishment of hydraulic power plants.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Consul in General in Peshawar Mohammad Baqer Beigi said that Iranian nation has been the backbone of the Islamic Revolution since its inception in 1979.
Commenting on regional situation, he said that serious fighting against terrorism as a main scourge not only in West Asia but also in other parts of the world requires collective measures, adding that Iran has demonstrated its preparedness in this respect.

Noting that Iran has distanced itself from mono-product economy based on oil, he added that the programs of the Economy of Resistance are yielding fruits, as different countries have rushed to boost economic relations with Iran.

He called on Pakistani officials to help remove obstacles in the way of banking transactions in a bid to pave the way for further exchange of trade and economic delegations.
