Iran gov't vows to balance Forex rate

Tehran, Feb 13, IRNA – Iran's Government Spokesman Mohammad-Baqer Nobakht said on Tuesday that the government would not tolerate the rise of foreign exchange rate, vowing to bring the rate under control.

Speaking during his weekly press conference, Nobakht said that the government does not agree with the reduction of the value of national currency.

Iran's banking system is certain and the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) has supervision over the people's savings, Nobakht said.

Curbing absolute poverty and reducing inflation rate tops the agenda of the government in the next Iranian year, the official added.

Asked to comment about government policies to increase tax incomes, Nobakht said: 'Taxes are not going to increase, rather we have plans to identify those who evade taxation and the Iranian National Tax Administration will expand tax bases.'

The government aims to prevent tax evasion with the use of the modern software so as not to put individual tax payers under pressure.
