Iran Room opens at Yerevan University

Moscow, Feb 13, IRNA – A center calld Iran Room has been launched at Yerevan State University (YSU) to enhance Iranian studies in Armenia.

The event was held with the attendance of Iran envoy to Armenia Kazem Sajjadi and YSU's Vice-rector on Scientific Policy, International Cooperation Gegham Gevorgyan and Dean of International Relations College Gegham Petrosyan.

Petrosyan congratulated the 39th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, saying Iran was the only neighboring country which recognized Armenia from the very early days of its independence, maintained diplomatic ties with Armenia and opened embassy there.

Iran spared no efforts in supporting Armenian people and government in difficult situation, he added.

Establishing peace and stability would not be possible in Southern Caucasus without Iran, he noted.

Sajjadi, for his part, referred to developing cultural, academic, scientific and economic cooperation as a practical way in promoting relations between the two countries.

Launching Iran Room will prepare a suitable opportunity for Armenian students and professors to develop academic cooperation more than ever, he said.

Iranian senior officials are trying to maintain peaceful ties with neighboring countries, he added.
