The agreement is aimed to prevent floods in the bordering regions, said Colonel Nozar Moradi, the commander of border guard police of Iran's northern city of Astara.
Speaking to IRNA, Colonel Moradi said that the overflow of Astarachai River has caused problems for those living on the border.
He said that the dredging up of the river will be carried out in four points by the end of the year.
