US cannot deceive Europe 'any more': Iranian MP

Tehran, Nov 12, IRNA – Europeans will not be misled any longer by the US about the July 2015 nuclear deal, an Iranian lawmaker said here on Sunday.

'Europeans have declared over and over that they are after preservation of the nuclear deal and promotion of cooperation with Iran,' Morteza Saffari-Natanzi told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Since hundreds of years ago, Iran and the European Union (EU) have had good and traditional relations, said the member of Iran's parliament adding 'The Europeans' willingness to have ties with Iran is not a new issue.'

Saffari-Natanzi, who is a member of Majlis (Parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, added that the Europeans are eager to interact with Iran, and 'they don't want to play the US game.'

He went on to say that the Europeans have found that the United States is just making ballyhoo in line with its hostile policies.

The US should know that the July 2015 deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), will not be hurt by its measures, the parliamentarian concluded.

Since the implementation day of the JCPOA in January 2016, the US has repeatedly violated the deal which many world leaders including the EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini have described as an international agreement that is so beneficial and cannot be broken unilaterally.
