Iranian woman appointed first ever no. 2 at Oil Ministry

Tehran, Oct 29, IRNA – A woman was appointed on Sunday as Iran's Petroleum Minister first deputy for the first time in the history of the country's oil industry.

In a decree, Iranian Petroleum Minister Bijan Zangeneh appointed Ms. Marziyeh Shahdaei as the number two official at his Ministry.

Earlier, Shahdaei was working as Director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) and deputy petroleum minister for petrochemical affairs.

Women have been getting more and more involved in social life in Iran after the Islamic Revolution. President Rouhani has frequently urged his ministers to choose qualified women for top managerial posts in their ministries.
