Senior Bosnian diplomat hails Iran's progress 'despite sanctions'

Tehran, Sep 13, IRNA – A senior diplomat from Bosnia and Herzegovina said on Wednesday that he was impressed by various developments made in Iran 'despite all sanctions' and problems that the country has been facing with.

'I am impressed by everything and glad to see how Iran avoided all sanctions imposed on the country and made progress' in all fields. 'It is great,' said Ljubo Grkovic, Head of the Department of Asia and Africa of the Foreign Ministry of Bosnia and Heerzegovina.

Speaking exclusively to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) during a tour of its headquarters in Tehran, he said this is the third time that he is visiting Iran.

Grkovic, a former journalist, arrived in the Iranian capital on September 9 heading a 9-member diplomatic delegation. The visit is taking place upon an invitation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran.

He and his entourage are to hold talks with the Iranian officials to become more familiar with the country, particularly following the re-election of President Hassan Rouhani.

'This is a pleasure for us to improve bilateral relations with the Iranian government,' said the Bosnian senior diplomat.

Earlier in the day, Grkovic met IRNA Managing Director Mohammad Khodadi.

Grkovic and his accompanying delegation will visit the ancient city of Isfahan, central Iran, at the final phase of their stay in Iran.
