IKSLC opens with test launching of Simorgh satellite carrier into space

Tehran, July 27, IRNA -- Imam Khomeini Space Launch Center (IKSLC) officially opened with tentative launching of Simorgh (Phoenix) satellite carrier into the space.

Defense Ministry's defense propaganda general office reported that the IKSLC officially opened on the eve of the auspicious birth anniversary of the 8th Imam Ali Ibn Mouss al-Reza (AS).

It said the IKSLC is the first fixed platform base of Iran and is a huge collection undertaking all operations for preparation, launching, control and guiding satellite carriers.

The report says the IKSLC is consistent with the latest international standards and is designed and built by the skilled and efficient experts of the Defense Ministry's Aerospace Organization, being capable of addressing all the country's needs in the LEO orbit in the final phase.

Simorgh satellite carrier is also capable of placing up to 250 kg satellites in the earth's 500 km orbit.
